Adult ClassesCovenant Life Class Taught by Brumley Greene
(description coming soon!)
Cumberland Adventurers Taught by Terry Bellamy
This Adventurers group studies a varied curriculum throughout the school year. One quarter we may use the Cumberland Presbyterian Church curriculum found in "Encounter Adult Bible Study." Another quarter, we may study an individual Book of the Bible or we will use a special study from
www.christian.com. We are properly named the "adventurers" as we seek to keep the classes interesting and thought-provoking, stretching our thinking beyond just the basic and traditional lessons.
The class participants are persons of various ages and Church backgrounds, making for a lively discussion and study of Biblical and other religious issues. The classroom is located on the second floor of the Church building, to the left of the staircase nearest the entrance from the front courtyard. Terry Bellamy has several years of experience in Christian education and has devoted many years of his life to the betterment of life for children and youth. We welcome anyone and hope you will join us for the "adventure!"
Discovery Class Taught by Terry Greene (description coming soon!)
Disciples Class Taught by Gerald Miller & Don McIntyre
The Disciples class has had a presence in our church since 1988. Our class is made-up of adults from their mid-forties to retirement age. The class participates in a quarterly study, but will also choose to use other units of study from time to time. The classes are Bible based and the interest level is largely dependent on the active participation and diverse opinions of the group... and we all are generally engaged in the discussion from time to time. The teachers of the class are Gerald Miller and Don McIntyre.
The Disciples class members share many other activities throughout the year. The group enjoys quarterly activities visiting area restaurants and one another’s homes, taking day trips, etc. The projects for the class include: 1) giving monthly to the Food Bank; 2) supporting VBS; 3) helping certain families and children financially or materially; and 4) writing and visiting homebound members. You are invited and encouraged to join our Disciples' class!
Heritage Class Taught by Jane Greene, Lynne Lively, Barbara Britton and John McInturff
The class uses the Encounter and The Present Word curricula. These follow the "Uniform Lessons Series" used by many Christian denominations. This series covers the whole of scripture over a seven year cycle. The format of our class is a lecture-discussion model.
The Heritage Class holds the distinction of being our oldest active Sunday School class at the Greeneville Cumberland Presbyterian Church. While some members have been in the class since its inception, we are a mixed group of young and old, male and female, and married and single.
We meet every Sunday morning at 9:30 a.m., beginning by singing our favorite hymns. The classroom is located on the first floor of the Church building, across from the main office. We invite persons of all ages to visit or join us as we study Scripture and reflect on its meaning for our lives today. Explorers Class Taught by Jeff Farr
This geography based Bible Study group meets on a somewhat abbreviated Sunday School schedule, running from the Sunday after Labor Day until mid December, then mid January until about the first of May. It is a video based study that explores the time and place in which the Bible was written, including customs and traditions of the time. Each lesson explores current day applications with a faith lesson. For more information, contact Jeff Farr at 639-8211.
Twenty40 Class Taught by Melissa Duff
This young adult class will begin on February 24, 2013. Come and help shape what this class will look like. |
